- Be able to to be in tune with the energies of late spring and benefit from them in your health
- Be able to practise the traditional qi gong exercises for the two fortnightly periods

Course Outline
0 hrs - 15 min
Understand Clear and Bright, its meaning and application. Kites fly in the clear sky, ancestors are remembered and acknowledged, graves are swept clean. Outings are taken in nature to feel the power and beauty of spring and its rising light.
15 min - 30 min
Understand the images of the 6 traditional 5 day periods.. Bright colours on the blossoming trees and the beauty of the rainbow. The earthbound mole gives way to the flying quail. Duckweed grows, doves mate, the hoopoe shows its brilliant colours.
30 min - 1 hrs
Understand the 6 traditional hexagrams and their advice for the time of year. Yang joyfully activating yin, working together through conflict, addressing disorder and decay. Coping with seasonal change, resolutely breaking through to new territories.
1 hrs - 1.25 hrs
Understand the importance of the 5th earthly branch chen, related to earth, the dragon and the foot yang ming stomach meridian. It gives the transition from spring to summer, from wood to fire.
1.25 hrs - 1.5 hrs
Understand the importance of the stomach meridian to the liver with its nourishing, blood and qi building points. Use ST 36 and LI 10 for exhaustion, help digestion with ST 25, ST 37 and ST 39. Use ST 28, ST 29 and ST 30 for gynecological problems.
1.5 hrs - 1.75 hrs
Use the tradition of 3rd day 3rd lunar month Double Third Festival to cleanse and purify the body. Traditionally river bathing was the method of cleaning and clearing. Other detox methods such as cleansing diets can also be used to clear the liver.
1.75 hrs - 2 hrs
Understand Grain Rain, its importance and application. This time of increased rain and raised temperatures is crucial to growth, particularly for tea. Many Chinese teas are important for health eg Grain Rain tea removes heat and improves eyesight.
2 hrs - 2.25 hrs
Understand the dangers of the heat of the shao yin climate. Heat affects heart and kidneys and both liver and stomach, so it is important to guard against over-heating and ensure sufficient fluids are taken in.
2.25 hrs - 2.5 hrs
Use the small intestine 3rd month matching meridian to help cool heat. Since it produces ye fluids, the small intestine has several useful moistening and moisturizing points such as SI 1, SI 2 and SI 5. SI 6 is particularly useful for the elderly.
2.5 hrs - 3 hrs
Learn the Clear and Bright and Grain Rain traditional qi gong exercises. Clear and Bright exercise activates thoracic 10 and helps particularly the kidneys, Grain Rain exercise activates thoracic 9 and helps the spleen and stomach.
