Course Overview

This is a Live Webinar event that will be held on March 22, 2026 - 8pm GMT, 9pm CET, 10pm IST. In our Drug-Herb Series, we have discussed many classes and subclasses of drugs, how they work, and their interface with Chinese medicine. This seminar explores something a bit different: we will be introducing the recently developed area of genomic medicine, also referred to as personalized or precision medicine. We will discuss genetics and their interface with pharmacology by looking at drug-metabolizing enzymes, drug transporters, and hypersensitivity reactions. While many of these play a role in drug-herb interactions, the emphasis will be on the current prescribing of medications and lay the foundation for the future of medication. And, the whole time, we will attempt to discuss how these interact with our Chinese medicine. The recordings will be made available for you to review after the event!

Course Objectives

  • Review the basics of genetics.
  • Understand basic aspects of pharmacogenomics.
  • Discuss the potential and possibilities of pharmacogenetics and Chinese medical interactions.
