Course Objectives
- Learn how the Five Element paradigm in Chinese medicine and Earth Element, provides a way to evaluate and balance energy in both humans and dogs. Students will learn and focus on the the Spleen and Stomach channels.
- Students will develop a more holistic way of seeing the connection between nature, the environment and the five elements of water, wood, fire, earth, and metal for balancing Qi and human and canine health. Course 4 focuses on the Earth element.
- Students will gain an understanding or their own bodies through the lens of Chinese Medicine and the Five elements. This course will focus the student on the stomach and spleen channels. along with strategies to help humans and dogs be balanced.
- The stomach may very well be one the most important functions in our body minds. According to the Nei Ching "all force of life all the flavours go towards the stomach where they are digested." Many digestive issues are related to Earth imbalances.
- The Hara is often considered to be our second brain. It is where our "gut reactions" lie. Students will learn how to touch the Hara and draw their attention to the areas that correspond to the Earth Element and Stomach and Spleen.
Course Outline
0 hrs - 30 min
From 7:00- 11:00 am most people begin their days with a morning meal, calling upon the primary organs of digestion: the stomach, spleen and pancreas. Diabetes is considered the archetypal disease of the spleen/pancreas vis a vis the Earth Element.
30 min - 1 hrs
The Spleen and Stomach, and its' human and canine meridian pathways of energy, may, when balanced, bring us into greater harmony with Earth, and Mother nature. Using Influencial points like Ming Men/ Du 4, Sp 6, 10 and 12 may help facilitate healing
1 hrs - 1.5 hrs
The importance of support, in the form of family, a safe home, as well as dogs, grounding and love, are all key components of a healthy Earth Element. A grounding meditation and visualization exercise, called the Microcosmic Orbit is included.
1.5 hrs - 2 hrs
The Hara, where we house our gut reactions, along with touch, is the focus of much of course 4. Touching the human and canine Hara, on or off the body, helps to heal the whole person and our dog companions. A map of the Hara areas is included.
