Course Objectives
- Understand how post-traumatic headaches are different than other types of headaches.
- Learn the questions to ask to identify the difference between a post-traumatic headache and a migraine.
- Learn acupuncture treatment strategies for post-traumatic headaches.
- Learn Chinese Herbal Medicine treatment strategies for post-traumatic headaches.
Course Outline
0 hrs - 2 hrs
The first section defines post-traumatic headaches, provides criteria for differentiating migraines and other types of post-traumatic headaches, and provides a description of how they manifest as neuropathic pain.
2 hrs - 4 hrs
The involvement of the trigeminal system in post-traumatic headache pathology is provided, along with key neurological exams and intake questions.
4 hrs - 6 hrs
The last section focuses on the use of acupunture treatment strategies and Chinese herbal medicine strategies in the treatment of post-traumatic headaches.
